Talent Factory 2009
posted on Apr 17 by Floris in the Projects, School categoryTalent Factory was a school project. The goal was to hunt down talents in our school, and get them to perform for a studio recording. We started in groups of eight people, and developed an extensive production plan. Our team, leaded by me, comprised a plan which included broadcasting the show live onto the internet. We also planned a large marketing campaign within our school, a website with a productional blog for everyone in the team, and an audition round. Our plan was chosen, and I was appointed head of production.

We worked in two teams, the audiovisual team and the stage-events team. We were in charge of recruiting the candidates, making all the video bumpers and portraits, and the overall design and contents of the show. Stage-events focussed on things like the set design, lights, and sound.

The name Talent Factory was chosen, website domain names were reserved, a logo was designed. A trailer was made and shown on screens inside our school during the break. Stage-events made sure the sound was of high quality, they brought in some heavy subwoofers to do the job. In the meantime, the website and production blog were created according to plan, the studio was getting prepared technically, and several other concepts for in-show cinematics were collected.
Talents started registering for the auditions on our website, and soon enough we were preparing the studio for the audition rounds. The amount of candidates that showed up was less then we had hoped for, but we only needed five.

After the audition rounds, the next promotional campaign began. We had a photoshoot with the elected candidates, and new posters were designed with them on it. The studio was rebuilt and prepared for the finals, in about a week and a half five different portrait videos were filmed and edited, along with several graphics.

The finals were on Friday the 27th of April. While there were some errors in the show, I think we did it as good as can be expected from us.

All this happened in a matter of several weeks, the whole project from start to finish lasted about 5 weeks, including the entire promotional campaign, the audition rounds, and the show itself.
